Google Sheets' AI now shows the web sources behind each answer

When you use Gemini to fill cells in Google Sheets, it now lists the web sources it used inside each cell. That makes it much easier to check AI-filled data before you rely on it.

What happened

Google's October 30 Workspace update says that when you use the AI function in Sheets to generate cell values, Gemini now shows the exact web sources it referenced directly in each cell, and it handles larger requests. The same recap added a compact pivot table layout and bulk editing of whole decks with Gemini in Slides.

Why it matters to your business

AI-filled spreadsheets are fast, but wrong numbers spread quietly into quotes, reports and decisions. Seeing the source for each cell means you can spot-check before you use the data, and keep a record of where it came from.

What I'd do

Try it on a low-stakes list first, for example opening hours or addresses of suppliers. Spot-check three cells against their sources. If the sources are weak, don't use the result. If your team uses Gemini in Sheets for client work, add it to your AI tool list with a note: "check sources before sending". Google decides which plans get the feature first; check your admin console.
