Lab

Lab notebook

How we approach automation, data and AI work for small businesses.

These are build projects, not client case studies. Each one starts from an everyday operations problem a solo owner or small team runs into, and each is labelled honestly as planned or in progress.

When a project is ready we publish what we built and what we learned. Results are shared only after they have been measured.

Smart Lead-Triage

Planned
Problem
New web-form leads for a small real-estate or service business sit in an inbox until someone has time, and the first reply goes out hours later.
Approach
An n8n workflow routes each new lead by type, drafts a reply for a person to review and send, and logs the lead to a CRM sheet. Nothing is sent without human review.
Stack
  • n8n
  • Web form
  • Google Sheets
  • AI draft (human review)
What we will share
A planned pilot with one or two small businesses. We will publish the before-and-after time to first reply once it has been measured, plus the workflow outline.

Real Estate Deal & Client Pipeline

In progress
Problem
Solo agents and small teams track deals and contacts across notes, texts and spreadsheets, so follow-ups slip.
Approach
A Google Sheets and Notion pipeline template with deal stages and follow-up dates, plus a script that sends Google Form submissions straight into the Notion lead list.
Stack
  • Google Sheets
  • Notion
  • Google Forms
  • Apps Script
What we will share
The template, setup notes and the Form-to-Notion script, published when the template is ready.

Read-Only MCP Server for Business Data

Planned
Problem
Owners want AI tools to answer questions about their books without giving those tools the keys to change anything.
Approach
A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server over a mock accounting database that can only read, plus a one-page note on how AI tools should handle business data: least access, read-only by default, and a log of every request.
Stack
  • MCP
  • TypeScript
  • SQLite (mock data)
What we will share
The server code with mock data only, and the one-page data-handling note.

Sales Logger for Template Stores

In progress
Problem
Sellers on Payhip, Gumroad and Etsy copy each order into a spreadsheet by hand, which is slow and easy to get wrong at tax time.
Approach
A Google Apps Script reads order emails from the three stores and logs each sale into the Profit & Tax Tracker sheet.
Stack
  • Google Apps Script
  • Gmail
  • Google Sheets
What we will share
The script and setup steps, written for owners who have never opened Apps Script.
